Lush Review – Bubblegum Lip scrub

Thanks to Lush, my chapped, flaky and dry lips are a thing of the past!

I decided to try their Bubblegum Lip scrub to see how it works, as it smelled amazing. Truth be told I was a bit hesitant as it’s quite expensive and the pot is super small, but I don’t regret buying it at all, as I’ve been using it a couple of months now and there is still so much left.

So basically this Lip scrub is used to rub all the dead skin of your lips to make it smooth and soft. It is perfect to use before applying Lipstick, especially matt or liquid lipsticks as those tend to go into dry cracked lips, so this scrub prevents that. Best of all you can actually lick off the lip scrub from your lips as it is 100% edible and so yummy!

Lush offers a few different Lip scrubs, they have the Bubblegum, Popcorn and Mint Julips scrub, they also offer a limited addition Christmas lip scrubs, Santa’s Lip scrub & Sugar Plum Fairy Lip scrub.

I really love this scrub it works great and also plumps up your lips a bit!

** TIP – if my lips are very dry and chapped, I use the scrub at night and apply Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream afterwards, then the next morning my lips are back to normal and super soft!

Smell: The Bubblegum Lip scrub smell is amazing, it has a super sweet smell and best of all you can actually eat it!

Colour: N/A

Feeling on skin: Ok well this is for lips so the scrub has a sugary, hard feeling when applying and afterwards your lips feel very soft and plump.

Cost: R105, it is quite expensive as it is a very small pot, but it is worth it as it lasts very long and u only use a little bit at a time.

Let me know if you’ve tried the scrub and what your thoughts are!

Current Fave – Metallic Lippies

Helloooo Guys

Trend alert!! Metallic Lippies – Love them / Hate them they are in at the moment, along with all things Metallic and Mermaid.

Personally I am loving this new trend, I love sparkle and glitter and lipstick so all of these combined is just, ah, PERFECT! I bought myself a liquid metallic lipstick and then when I got it, I though, oh crap, this is going to look horrible and once I actually tried it, I literally wore it everyday for an entire week – I loved it SO much!!

It is a bit of a risky trend if you are someone who plays it safe with make up, but I promise you, just try it, even if you try a light pink metallic, you will not regret it.

Below I added a few pics for some Metallic Lippie Inspo;

1 Clothing item // 2 ways to wear it

Summer is back and so is the T-Shirt dress.

Below I did a look to go from Beach bum to glam with a simple T-Shirt dress.

It’s all about the accessories you use with the dress. This a such a versatile item to own, you can even wear it in winter with some stockings and a jacket, there are so many possibilities. This goes for normal casual dresses as well, if you want to glam it up, pair the dress with some cute shoes, or heals and statement jewelry and you’re good to go. For a relaxed look wear it with sandals or even flip flops.

Dining Out

Helloo Guys

Today’s post is a bit different than usual, but this blog is a bit chaotic so here goes, I wanted to share a few of my fave spots to eat at in Cape Town and a little bit about why I love it so much and what you can expect. These are a few spots I’ve tried out during the past year or two.
You are welcome to read my full review on some of these places on my Zomato page.

Picture from We Heart it

*Please note the restaurants are listed alphabetically and not by preference.

Asamis – Sushi
Asami’s has a few branches open in the Cape Town area, I’ve only been to the Durbanville branch in Cobble walk and in Bellville at Tygervalley.
The reason why I love Asami’s is they have a range of interesting Sushi on their menu, my favorite being their Strawberry salmon rolls. They serve from sushi pancake rolls to “sushi” with deep-fried chicken instead of fish. The few times I’ve eaten there the sushi has always been fresh. Also they have no limit on Salmon roses if you take the buffet / all you can eat option.
On another note they are always super busy, so make sure to book a table and be patient with the service if you can’t get a seat at the belt.

Fork – Tapas
I’ve only been here once but this restaurant in Long street made a big impression on me. It was my first Tapas experience and it was so lovely. The food was amazing and also very reasonably priced if you share (like one is supposed to with Tapas). The food on the menu is very interesting and believe me, you would want to try everything.
I would definitely recommend the Deep Fried Goats’ Cheese and the Honey sweet potatoes with atchar mayonnaise.

Honeybun – Cafe
This Little Cafe in Observatory is the cutest place ever. I loved it so much and they are so reasonably priced, so if you are on a tight budget this is an amazing place to check out. They have a wide variety of food on the menu and also offer various freshly made smoothies.
The food was super fresh and really good, the coffee is also amazing.
Go early to avoid the disappointment of not getting a table.

Hudsons – Gourmet Burgers
If you’ve never been to one of the various Hudsons Branches (Green Point, Gardens, Claremont & Stellenbosch) do yourself a favour and go, NOW! If you’re looking for a different type of burger Hudsons is the answer. They have super creative burgers on their menu, I’ve had a few and I have never been disappointed. My favourite is defs the Poppa Trunks burger, it has a chili popper on top of the burger patty!!
Hudsons also offers various other foods on their menu but I would suggest try a burger. They also have massive milkshakes (that I have yet to try) and a range of yummy big Cocktails as well. Also their burgers don’t come with sides so remember to order your sides separately (fries, disco fries, sweet potato crisps etc.)
This is  great place to  go on a Sunny day for lunch with friends or even to grab drinks and dinner after work.

Royale eatery – More Burgers
Royale was voted one of the best Burger restaurants in Cape Town last year, that itself tells you to get yourself down there ASAP to go see just why. Great service, fresh, yummy burgers and by far the best sweet potato fries I’ve ever had (Note; try them with the cream they offer on the table).
They are also always very busy so be sure to book in advance and they are closed on Sundays. My favourite spot to sit is on the Balcony outside, you can see the entire Long street from there.

SGT Pepper – Dancing and Pizzas
So this restaurant in the heart of Long street doubles as a “Night Club” in the evenings, so if your amped for dinner and some dancing this is the place. The Pizzas are divine and I personally love that they serve it on a super thin, crispy crust.
If you’re not hungry go check it out anyway, for a fun night of dancing.

The Five guys Eatery – Now know as The Copper Club eatery – Pizzas & Burgers
Perfectly situated on the water at the Tyger Waterfront in Bellville, this place is one of my faves in the Northern Suburbs. The service is amazing and the staff are so friendly. I’ve tried a burger and Pizza here and can honestly not decide which one was better as their food is just great.
This is a nice place to enjoy on a sunny day, even if it is just for a couple of drinks.

Current Fave – Denim Jackets

Hi Lovelies,

It’s been a while, I know, I am so sorry I’ve been so quite the past few months. But I’m back and will be posting regularly again!!

While I was away so many trends have popped up, fizzled out and also the 90’s finally made its comeback – Yassss.. (more on that later…)

But besides all that I have to admit my favorite item at this moment has to be a signature item that everyone should have in their closet and that is a Denim Jacket. To be honest I wasn’t the biggest fan of a denim jacket, it always just made think back to Britney & Justin T’s Red Carpet denim on denim iconic look – nope… Anyway I also had nooo idea on how I would wear it, now I literally wear my jacket so much, I think people are starting to think it’s the only warm item I own…

It’s like the most versatile item ever, I normally wear it over dresses or with black jeans, I can’t see myself wearing them with other denim pants, but you can totally pull that off too.

A Singles Survival guide to Valentine’s day

Ah February – The Month of Love.. Some get butterfly’s thinking about this, others get nauseous and panicky.. Me, I just get on with life..

Love

February 14th best know as Valentine’s day gets so many people all stressed out, thinking they don’t have a significant other to spend the day with or someone to send them flowers and chocolates or take them out for a romantic evening.. My question is why? Why do people get stressed out by this, it’s just another day of the year after all.

I think that if you have someone to share this day with it’s awesome, I mean, I grant happiness to everyone and I love seeing people happy and this day is a day where people go all out to show how much they care for another and that’s wonderful, everyone deserves to be loved.

Photo via We Heart It

Being single is not the end of the world on Valentine’s day, there are so many things you can do with loved ones (not necessarily with a Boyfriend or Girlfriend or Spouse) but with family or friends, Some might think – pfft this is so lame why… But think about it, you don’t have to be a couple to love someone. I love my family and friends and that’s alright by me..

I feel Valentine’s day is more than just for couples and giving/receiving flowers and chocolates, it’s about showing someone you care for  and appreciate them.

You can even treat yo’self on this special day, I mean most importantly you should love yourself no matter what, so why not buy those shoes or that dress, buy yourself a nice bunch of flowers to brighten up your home or some chocolates to enjoy. Go see Deadpool in the Cinema with some friends! You can even do a Girls Night for you and your single ladies, get some movies, snacks, wine and just have a good night in or hit the town and go dancing who knows, Cupids arrow might just hit you that night.

So in my opinion Valentine’s day is not a day to cry over or feel lonely about not dating someone, it should be celebrated regardless of your relationship status, show the people you care about how you feel and spread the Love after all that’s what life’s all about!

Current Fave – Black Jeans

Black has always been my go-to colour for clothes, some say it’s boring, I say it’s stylish and mysterious. If you open my closet most stuff will be black, I’ve tried in the past, to steer clear of the colour but, oh well – no luck, I just Love it too much..  At the moment I just love black jeans, it looks so good, it can be dressed up classy or grungy and best of all it has a slimming effect.

I mean what’s not to love. My favorite style is the straight leg or skinny jeans and then either ripped or not – that’s up to you.

Below I put together a few pic’s of how to wear black jeans for some Inspo.

Mumford and Sons Live in Cape Town

Last week Friday 29 January I was very lucky to have gotten tickets to see Mumford and Sons perform live in Cape Town for the very first time. This was in fact their first time ever playing a gig in South Africa. The tickets for their South African part of their Tour, Gentleman of the Road, (in Cape Town, Durban & Pretoria) sold out so fast the moment it released, that the band decided to add more shows to their South African tour.
